Thai and Shiatsu Massage
These ancient healing systems were developed in Asia. Thai massage is done on a mat on the floor and the client is encouraged to wear loose fitting clothing. Some have called this lazy man’s yoga because it feels like having yoga done to you. Shiatsu is performed on a mat or a massage table. The focus is on the meridians, or energy lines of the body, and clearing blocks, increasing Chi, or vitality, and balancing over reactive areas of the energy through gentle thumb pressure, compressions, and stretching.

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage
Is an ancient massage using warm oils and broad strokes of the forearms. The motion of the massage strokes mimics the gentle waves of the ocean giving a flowing, relaxing, and nurturing feel. It has a gentle rebirthing effect on the psyche.

Swedish/Integrative Massage
This is also known as a relaxational massage. I incorporate many modalities into my Swedish Massage depending on the needs of the clients, and therefore use the term “integrative.” The main purpose of Swedish/Integrative massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish/Integrative massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load.

Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
Focuses on muscles relevant to the event of an athlete or the area of complaint/concern of the client. The goal is to enhance endurance, lessen the chance of injury and shorten the time needed to recover from a sporting event. Or, to improve flexibility, range of motion, and reduce pain and spasm in an area. I utilize a variety of techniques such as classical Swedish Massage, trigger point therapy, and hydrotherapy, as well as, stretching.

Hot Stone Massage
Uses heated smooth river stones to massage the body. The hardness of the stones allows me to address specific problem with deeper pressure. The stones are used to impart heat onto the body. I lay stones on the body with a layer of fabric between the client and stone. Simultaneously, I use the stones to massage the client with warm oil. The heat from the stones and the oil relaxes muscles, increase the blood flow to the area being worked which helps to cleanse and detoxify the muscles. This increase in circulation and the relaxation of the muscles creates an overall deeply relaxing experience.
